How to Disable Other Websites from Accessing Your Facebook Profile (aka Instant Personalization)
Posted on May 8, 2010
by Katie Hellmuth Martin  on Facebook is committed to enhancing the social experience online, which is currently helping many local businesses. Therefore, they have teamed up with partner websites like Pandora, Yelp and Microsoft Docs to share what you are doing on those websites with your friends on Facebook. They call this "Instant Personalization". When Facebook rolled this out, they automatically included your account to be accepting of this, so have set your account to an "opt-in" mode. Facebook explains that in order to share this information, you would need to click on a Like button on the partner website. However, as pointed out by Mashable, the tool is on by default, so if you don't click a "No Thanks" button, the information you transmitted... Read More

Meet Alishan — Tribal Influences his Latest Collection
Posted on May 6, 2010
Alishan Halebian has been a well lauded and successful designer for more than 20 years. What I love about him is his vision and continual exploration of design and fashion. While most know him for his best-selling bridal line (will show you pics in a later post) what rocked my world this year is his oxidized silver and gold collection that references ancient tribal themes from Africa and related cultures. In explaining his design evolution he starts off referencing early African tribal art but soon he weaves a design story that heads north and evolves into Moroccan and Middle Eastern cultures and wanders into ancient Celtic symbolism, too.  Can you see all these cultures in his latest collection? It all adds up to a fantastic journey into Gorgeous as far as I'm... Read More

Posted on April 27, 2010
>>> Adam and Nicole Gorman at I. Gorman (Cool Store) and Babs Noelle of Alara (Cool Store) with Sarah Graham and Todd Reed sharing what works in selling designer jewelry. >> Mutual respect helps designers and retailers work well together - when you like the work and the designer you can over come whatever hurdles come up. Worried about territories. >> Talk it out. Work for each others best interests. >> Should you carry more from a few or less from many designers? Adam says we should sit down and open a line broad enough to be true to the collection and agree on an opening order. Luxury brands snatch away online bargains – Times Online
Posted on April 26, 2010
TIME is running out for bargain hunters seeking discount designer labels on the internet. Online shoppers face higher prices for luxury clothing, perfumes and handbags because high-end brands have won new powers to block discount websites from selling their products. New rules approved in Brussels mean brands such as Burberry, Giorgio Armani and Louis Vuitton will be able to stop online retailers from selling their products if they do not have “bricks and mortar” high street stores.
